Summary

The primary barrier to rolling out AI agents at enterprises isn’t model capability or prompt engineering — it’s fragmented data. Invoices live in Quickbooks, emails in Outlook, proposals in Sharepoint, contracts in Netsuite. There is no shared namespace across these systems, which means agents can’t access the cross-departmental context they need to make decisions.

This is a structural problem, not a technical one. The agent is only as useful as the data it can see. When that data is balkanized across dozens of SaaS tools, each with its own API, auth model, and schema, the agent’s effective context shrinks to whatever single system it’s connected to.
